Entheon Village's kitchen will serve food acquired from local organic farmers, use solar ovens, recovered waste heat, water heated via solar thermal radiation and will minimize waste everywhere possible.  Entheon's primary kitchen is a vegan kitchen, and there will be a separate kitchen that will prepare animal protein for those who opt-in.

Economies of scale allow us to achieve la smaller environmental footprint with one large kitchen compared to multiple smaller kitchens.  We generate less waste, support local organic agriculture,  use less energy, use more sustainable products and have more fun. 

The produce is acquired from local organic farmers and delivered to us on the playa, or picked up in Reno.  All animal products will be only those that are organically-raised and are as sustainable as possible.  Cage-free eggs, free-range chicken, farm-raised fish and some game will be served for those who are interested. 

 The kitchen will use a refrigerated semi-trailer hauled from Chicago  (it's primary purpose is to haul village goods and infrastructure from Chicago, and will double as our refrigerator on-playa) powered from our renewable energy power grid.  The kitchen will use solar ovens, will use recovered heat wherever possible to cook food.  Propane will be used when an alternative is not available. 

 In order to minimize greywater, all villagers are provided with recycled paper plates at each meal which are burned, along with our left-over food waste in our biomass gasifier to produce power for the village.  All greywater is collected in a large container and pumped regularly to minimize potential for contamination.  Furthermore, all kitchen managers have sanitary certifications.

Serving and eating utensils are made from corn-resin.  Villagers will be given a set of corn resin tableware at the beginning of the week and are expected to lick them clean and bring them to every meal.  No greywater dumping or washing stations will be available for village purposes other than cleaning kitchen hardware.
